To Whom It May Concern:

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) tasked the County of Mason with the remediation of the Mason County Landfill - Pere Marquette site under the Superfund Program. This historic municipal landfill contains indus1rial wastes and has contaminated groundwater beneath the site.

In order to fulfill this task, the County of Mason contracted with

Braithwaite Consultants, Inc. (BCI) who designed the USEPA mandated closure system and managed the construction activities. BCI made sure that the project was constructed correctly and on time. They aggressively represented the interests of the County of Mason while assuring compliance with USEPA and Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) requirements. As a direct result of BCI?s approach, the total cost of this project came in a half million dollars under the USEPA estimate for the same work.

We believe that Braithwaite Consultants, Inc. did an excellent job for us and we look forward to future opportunities to utilize their services.

Sincerely,
Timothy D. Hausen
Public Works Director
